Pune: The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai, has announced the commencement of applications for the Citi Scholarship for Young Musicians 2026-28, a flagship initiative designed to nurture emerging talent in Hindustani classical music.

The Citi Scholarship for Young Musicians supports advanced training in vocal disciplines such as khayal and dhrupad, along with melody instruments including flute, harmonium, violin, sitar, sarod, and other traditional instruments.

Selected scholars will receive financial assistance of ₹10,000 per month for a duration of two years, spanning from April 2026 to March 2028.

Citi Scholarship for Young Musicians: Application Process and Auditions

Aspiring candidates must submit their bio-data via email to indianmusicscholarships@ncpamumbai.com
on or before 20 December 2025.

Applications should clearly specify the category – khayal, dhrupad, or the specific melody instrument – for which the applicant is seeking consideration. Submissions through physical copies or courier services will not be accepted.

Shortlisted applicants will be informed directly and invited to participate in auditions scheduled for February 2026. These auditions will be conducted based on video recordings shared by the candidates after shortlisting.

Citi Scholarship for Young Musicians: Bio-Data Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a well-structured bio-data in list format containing complete personal details, including name, date of birth, residential address, contact information, email ID, and professional qualifications.

The bio-data must also detail the applicant’s musical journey, including names of gurus, duration of training, performance experience, awards, recognitions, and scholarships received previously. Scanned documents and audio or video files are not required at this stage.

NCPA Citi Scholarship for Young Musicians: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for khayal and melody instruments must be between 18 and 30 years of age as on 1 March 2026, while dhrupad applicants may be between 18 and 35 years.

Applicants receiving any other music scholarship or grant during April 2026 to March 2028 are not eligible.

Full-time or part-time working professionals, professional musicians, and artists holding an ‘A’ grade from All India Radio will not be considered.

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply, and late submissions beyond 20 December 2025 will not be accepted.
